Sell your surplus electrical wire in Pennsylvania

A documented review of your reels, a written quote, and pickup arranged on terms you agree to before anything leaves the building.

What we buy, and what we do not

We buy electrical wire and cable: copper and aluminum building wire, THHN and THWN, XHHW and XHHW-2, MC and AC cable, tray cable, control and instrumentation cable, SER and SEU, URD and USE-2, welding cable, portable cord, bare copper, and medium and high voltage cable from 5 kV through 69 kV.

We do not buy transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, panelboards, motors, generators, lighting, tools, or general electrical equipment. If your lot is mixed, describe the wire portion and we will tell you whether it is workable on its own.

Full reels, partial reels and cut lengths

Full factory reels with intact tags are the simplest to quote. Partial reels are common and entirely workable when the remaining length is known or can be estimated from the reel and the number of wraps. Loose coils and short cut lengths are reviewed individually; some are resalable, others are not.

Do not cut, strip or re-spool usable cable to make a lot look tidier. Those actions usually destroy information and reduce value. Photograph the material as it sits.

Condition matters more than age

ConditionWhat we look forTypical outcome
Factory sealed, indoorOriginal tag, legible print, undamaged jacketReviewed as new surplus
Opened, partially usedRemaining footage, clean jacket, intact reelReviewed as usable wire
Stored outdoorsUV damage, water ingress at the ends, crushed flangesUsable if the jacket and ends are sound
Removed from serviceJacket marks, unknown footage, test historyCase by case, often recovery value
Damaged or unidentifiedCut, burned, contaminated or unreadableRecovery value only

What a buyer actually needs from you

The fastest quotes come from sellers who send the same five things: the wire type, the size, the approximate footage, the condition, and photographs of the tags and jacket print. Manufacturer, voltage rating and reel count fill in the rest.

  • Wire type and construction, if known
  • Gauge or MCM size, and number of conductors
  • Voltage rating, especially for shielded cable
  • Approximate footage per reel and total
  • Number of reels, coils or pallets
  • Storage history and any damage
  • City or township, dock or ground level, forklift availability
  • Timeline and any site access restrictions

How the quote is built

We start with what the material is and whether it can be resold as wire. Construction and voltage class set the market. Length and continuity decide whether a contractor will buy it. Condition and documentation decide how much risk is attached. Freight and handling are part of the arithmetic, which is why a single reel in Erie and a full truckload in Lancaster are not evaluated the same way.

Quotes are written, and they state the basis for the number. If the honest answer is that a lot belongs in recovery rather than resale, we will tell you that instead of offering a number that cannot be honored.

Pickup and payment

Once a quote is accepted, we confirm the pickup address, access window, loading method, equipment needed and payment terms in writing. Reels are heavy and awkward; a dock and a forklift make a difference, and so does knowing whether the material is indoors, outdoors, palletized or loose.

We do not publish a walk-in counter. Every transaction is arranged directly with the seller at their site, by email and phone, so the inventory and the logistics are clear before anything moves.

Frequently asked questions

What kind of electrical wire do you buy in Pennsylvania?

Copper and aluminum building wire, THHN and THWN, XHHW and XHHW-2, MC and AC cable, tray cable, control and instrumentation cable, SER and SEU, URD and USE-2, welding cable, portable cord, bare copper, and medium and high voltage cable from 5 kV through 69 kV. We buy wire and cable only.

Do you buy partial reels and short lengths?

Yes. A partial reel with legible jacket print and a reasonable remaining length is reviewed the same way as a full reel. Very short cut lengths, damaged cable and unidentified material are usually valued on conductor recovery instead of resale value, and we will say so plainly.

Do I need to strip, sort or re-spool the wire before selling?

No. Do not cut usable cable or remove tags to prepare a quote. Photograph the inventory as it sits, note what you know about footage and condition, and leave the reels intact. Sorting is only useful when it helps you describe a mixed lot.

How is surplus wire valued compared with scrap?

Usable wire in continuous lengths with readable markings is generally worth more than its metal content because another contractor or plant can install it. The difference depends on construction, size, length, condition, documentation and current demand. We quote the material as wire first and explain when recovery value is the realistic outcome.

What information do you need for a quote?

Wire type, gauge or MCM size, voltage rating, manufacturer if known, approximate footage per reel, number of reels, condition and storage history, the Pennsylvania city or township where the material sits, and photographs of the reel tags, jacket print and conductor ends.

Do you charge for reviewing an inventory or for pickup?

There is no charge to review an inventory and no obligation to accept a quote. Pickup logistics, loading responsibilities and payment terms are agreed in writing before anything moves.

Which parts of Pennsylvania do you cover?

All 67 counties, from Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley to Pittsburgh and the Mon Valley, Erie and the northwest, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, Harrisburg, Lancaster and York, and the northern tier. Coverage describes where we review inventory, not a local storefront in every community.

Can you work with a facility that has security or access restrictions?

Yes. Tell us about gate access, badging, escort requirements, dock hours and any union or contractor rules when you submit the inventory. Those details are part of planning the pickup, not an afterthought.

What if I do not know the wire type?

Send a clear photograph of the print on the cable jacket and the reel tag. The print line usually identifies the type, size, voltage rating and standard. If the jacket is unreadable, a photograph of the conductor end and the reel dimensions still helps.

Do you buy wire that has been installed and removed?

Yes, with the understanding that removed cable is evaluated differently from new surplus. Footage is often uncertain, jackets may be marked or weathered, and test documentation may not exist. We review it honestly and quote accordingly.

Have surplus wire on the floor right now?

Send photographs of the reels, tags and jacket print. We will tell you what the material is worth as wire, not just as metal.
